Gov. Sarah Palin

While I don't agree with her on every issue, I have to say the more I see Sarah Palin the more I respect her, like her and am excited to vote for her in November. I always figured that the Republicans would be the first to actually elect a woman as VP or President.

Doesn't hurt that the more the left and the media go after her and her family the more I want to defend her.

I may actually volunteer for this election.

Whoever came up with the notion of a 'fanmix?

I'd like to beat the crap out of them!

Seriously am I the only one sick to death of seing these mindless things cluttering up my flist? Why on earth would I or anyone else care what someone things are the perfect songs for insert-fandom-here ?  Does coming up with a list of songs written and recorded by other people really take any skill, talent or original thought? Why do people think they've done something special and feel compelled to share this list of what are most likely their own favorite songs with others?

Okay, rant done. I return you all to your regularly scheduled flists.

My God Aaron buy a new title already!?

Just checking the TiVo for upcoming "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" episodes in my continuing bizarre need to watch a show I don't like
and saw that next week's episode is titled.....
are you ready for this.....

What Kind of Day Has It Been?

What's the theory if it worked for "Sports Night" and it worked for "West Wing" it must be right for "Studio 60?" As if he hadn't copped enough from the other two shows already.

Oh and BTW I have 3 on my TiVo that I haven't watched yet --
basically everything after Allison's appearance.

Went to night racing tonight at Hollywood Park for a friend's birthday and actually won about $50.

I still have major cleaning and clearing up work to do around the house before my house guests arrive Thursday night and I have been procrastinating by writing another Gilmore Girls story featuring Richard & Emily. Climbing the Staris

Okay, so I wrote a new story, though I know most all of my FList aren't Gilmore Girls fans. I'm still happy to be writing again.

I have a few ideas for other stories in the West Wing, and Battlestar Galactica fandoms. I'm hoping this will help me jumpstart the writing muscles again.

If you feel like checking out a Richard & Emily Gilmore story, it's called "Fingerprints & Mug Shots" and can be found here.

ETA: Not that my FList doesn''t know this already, but clearly I have lost my mind. I was talked into posting the story on FF.net. I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach. I've never posted anything there. I don't know why exactly I find it so daunting, but I do.

For the Love of Allison!

Really not much to say except still basking in the warm glow of Allison from last night's Studio 60. Anyone heard anything new about the sitcom?

Because there were so many lovely Allison moments from last night, I just had to make some new userpics.

For those of you keeping score, [info]sweetly_savage, this makes 61 of my 107 userpics.

I'm a pathetic Gilmore Fool

I just watched the last Gilmore Girls, which by the way until last week I didn't know was going to be the last Gilmore Girls and cried. Maybe it's my general mood of late, or my 2 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours, or maybe it's that I connected with that show a lot more than I ever thought I did. It wasn't until about 3 years ago that I even watched it, but thanks to the Family Channel I've seen every episode many times. While the show was supposed to be about Lorelai and her daughter Rory, Rory usually annoyed me and to me it became much more about Lorelai and her parents, the elder Gilmores Richard and Emily. Especially the volatile relationship between Emily and Lorelai, which reminded me quite a bit of my own relationship with my mother (though I often identified more with Emily). Lately I've been trying to emulate Lorelai's polite responses to her mother's criticisms, not that I've been succeeding.

Anyway... it was a sad farewell for me tonight. There was a brief tender moment between Lorelai and Richard and also between Lorelai and Emily, but we didn't get the hug at least I've been longing to see between mother and daughter. Oh well, at least they finally got Luke and Lorelai together in the end and that's something.

Exciting Allison News from my TiVo!

Allison will appear on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on 5/24. This may be old news to everyone else, but I'm elated. I don't know anything about who she'll play. If anyone has any info I'd love to know, but regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing Allison speaking Aaron's words and possibly sharing the screen again with Brad and Tim. I hope she gets something wonderfully funny to play and not just a "guest host."

Shrek - The Third

Shrek - Queen Lillian

I fell in love with Shrek (the movie that is) the first time I saw it. Shrek 2 was great and Shrek the Third is really good. I laughed uproariously through the whole thing. I guess nothing can really rekindle the magic of the first one as all the fairy tales from my childhood blended before my eyes. Still, it was really good, very clever the typical exacting attention to detail and witty writing that is clearly not just for the kiddies. I did feel that as is typically the case each sequel rather drops off, compared to what else is out there though this is among the very best in my opinion.

Stole this from   [info]soaked_in_stars   and it looked like fun.
Yes, that's how boring my life is right now, taking an 8th grade science test looked like fun. Let's just leave it at that.

Random Thoughts

Just got back from spending two days visiting old friends with my Mom. It's nice to be around people who have known you your whole life. They did miss the first 4 years but I think it still counts. A friend of theirs told me this weekend that they thought I was 26. As it was a woman about my Mom's age, I'm going to pretend she was at least half serious and not developing cataracts.

There was not nearly enough Bill and Laura on BSG tonight *grumble*, but it was still a good episode.

I've started rereading all the Harry Potter books in preparation for #7. Just out of curiosity, is anyone else, or am I the only nutball?

I got my new car today! It's not a baby blue mustang convertible, but isn't it purty?

It's a "metallic jade" 2007 Nissan Altima with "blond" interior, navigation, bluetooth, heated leather seats, a back up camera and LoJack that's being installed on Monday. Plus many more things I need to learn how to work, but SQUEEEE!

From [info]soaked_in_stars: When you see this quote The West Wing.

CJ in Hartsfield's Landing
Those 42 people are teaching us something about ourselves: that freedom is the glory of God, that democracy is its birthright, and that our vote matters.

Toby in Night Five
I don't remember having to explain to Italians that our problem wasn't with them, but with Mussolini! Why does the U.S. have to take every Arab country out for an ice cream cone? They'll like us when we win! Thousands of madrasas teaching children nothing, nothing, nothing but the Koran and to hate America. Who do we see about that? ... Do I want to preach America? Judeo-Christianity? No. If their religion forbids them from playing the trumpet, so be it. But I want those kids to... look at a globe. Be exposed to social sciences, history. Some literature... They'll like us when we win.

No good reason behind those quotes except they're the first that popped into my head. Chalk it up to my mood, which isn't particularly good at the moment.

Saw Running with Scissors tonight. While, I know some of you on my FList might actually like this flick, I thought it was horrid. I seriously wanted to get up and walk out but had brought two people with me and I kept hoping it would just end soon.

The only good thing about it in my opinion was the soundtrack well that and Jill Clauburgh she was wonderful as always. I thought Annette Benning was playing basically a version of the same crazy woman she's done in several films now. She may very well be nominated for this, but I actually hope that's not the case.

If anyone sees it I will be very interested to see what your opinions are. My friends liked it.

Okay went to a great event tonight. Lots of old time stars and some newer ones. Now, I'm torn in my emotions....

On the one hand I met Kathryn Joosten tonight. I told her she had become my favorite part of Desperate Housewives Also, that my friends and I were heartbroken when her character was killed off on WW. She said she was heartbroken too. She's a great lady. Great sense of humor and very friendly. She also told me that we would be seeing more of her this season on DH. That was the good part...

The bad... I also spoke to a friend working on The Megan Mullally Show and heard what a nightmare it is there. This is just so depressing to me because I keep thinking if I could get on a show like that I might like my job and therefore my life again. It's been so long since I've been happy and I keep thinking that the key is to once again get a job I love. Now, I don't know what to do with my life. I really want to enjoy my work again. Hell at the moment,  I'm just worried about working again and it's only been about 2 months since the dumbass show I was doing went on hiatus.

I still miss West Wing

I just can't get past missing West Wing when I watch Studio 60. Clearly it's my problem as the show is quite good. I just find it hard to ignore when everyone's speaking Aaron speak, when WW's Doug the annoying campaign speech writer is now Ricky the annoying script writer and they're talking focus groups, dial numbers and who put which question in the poll/survey and BW's Danny strutted and commanded with the arrogance of Josh the early years.

As I said, clearly this is my problem and I do enjoy the show, but I don't personally see anyone in the cast shining as brightly as John Spencer, Allison Janney or Richard Schiff. I don't see myself making an LJ icon of any of these people, but I'm hoping that I am proven wrong. It is after all only the 3rd episode.

Watched Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and I think I like it, but I'm not sure yet. I 'm going to an Evening with them at the TV Academy next week. They're showing the 2nd episode followed by a panel discussion. I'll reserve my gushing until after that. This first episode was basically just a set up for the series and really all I kept thinking was 'I miss West Wing.'

Spent yesterday in San Francisco with the family. I played the generous big sister and bought like $270 worth of clothes at the Levi's store for two of my brothers. The City was gorgeous and like 85 degrees. It was heaven. Then we had dinner outside at The Cheesecake Factory on top of Macy's over looking Union Square.

Now, if I could just hear about a good job, life would be great.
